Kek Lok Si Temple

The largest Buddhist temple in South East Asia, the Kek Lok Si
Temple stands out majestically against a hill slope. Often referred to
as The Jewel in the Crown of Heritage Temples, it is built in tiers and
houses the Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas which took 20 years to build,
the Pond of Longevity, shrines, and many beautiful sculptures. Marvel
at the 30 metre high statue of the Goddess of Mercy. The network of
stairways to the temple is lined with stalls selling souvenirs,
clothing and popular local foodstuff.

Making

houses. On a real-time guided tour, one can observe skilled
craftsmen at work, watch platinum and gold set with precious stones
transforming into wearable works of art, and purchase designer
jewellery direct from the factory.

.Penang Museum

The Penang Museum, built as the Penang Free School in 1821,
houses a fine collection of old photographs, maps, charts and other
historical exhibits that display the history and culture of the Penang
communities. A bronze statue of Captain Francis Light, the British
colonialist who established George Town and the British trading post on
Penang Island in 1786 stands prominently in the museum grounds.

St. George's Church

The oldest Anglican church in South-East Asia and one of the
earliest in Penang, the St George's Church was built by convicts in
1818. The entrance to this stately church, named after the patron saint
of England features a memorial canopy dedicated to Captain Francis
Light

Little India

From spices, colorful flowing saris and accessories to herbal
soaps, sandalwood incenses and prayer lamps, the vibrant cultural
enclave of Little India with its rows of pre-war shophouses is a mecca
for shoppers. Other businesses are run by astrologers, jewellers, money
changers, florists and others. A curious mix of modernity and old world
charm, Little India simply intrigues the senses.

Cheong Fatt Tze
Mansion

An architectural masterpiece, the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion was
built over a period of 7 years in the 1800 circa. The entire mansion,
in dazzling Indigo Blue was built along the lines of feng shui
principles. The Chinese and European architecture of the mansion
incorporates 38 rooms, 5 granite paved courtyards, 7 staircases and 220
vernacular timber louvre windows, and depicts the myth behind 'China's
last Mandarin and first Capitalist'.
